Equaide is a water based solution made with activated charcoal and minerals. It is used for the effective treatment of all types of wounds and skin disorders in large animals.

Our 5oz jar is the most cost effective size for treating larger wounds. However, with the long shelf life it means you can always ensure you have some to hand in your first aid kit for when needed.

Advantages of using our Equaide Solution:

  • Natural product
  • Acts as a protective skin layer over the wound
  • Dissolves proud flesh tissues to a healthy flesh level and no further
  • Does not harm healthy skin cells
  • Anti-bacterial
  • Anti-fungal
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Can be used over stitches or staples
  • Promotes hair re-growth
  • Can be used with or without bandaging
  • Ideal for keeping flies off wounds
  • It is not sticky and does not run or drip
  • No alcohol, no steriods, no DMSO (Dimethyl Sulfoxide)
  • FEI and Horse Racing approved as Equaide does not contain any banned or prohibitted substances
  • Equaide is also safe to use on food producing animals in Europe
  • Long shelf life
  • If it dries up just add a few drops of sterile water (boiling water, distilled water, saline solution). As the solution is water based this will then allow you to mix it up and it will be as good as new!
  • Very economical as a little goes a long way
  • Easy to use
  • Used and recommended by Vets worldwide

Supplied with a mixing stick and a larger 10mm brush to apply Equaide

(2oz and trial jars are supplied with a 5mm brush)

How to use Equaide with bandaging...

  • Clean wound with saline solution/dilute hibiscrub and gauze swabs
  • Dry wound
  • Apply a thin layer of Equaide solution
  • Apply a non stick pad (Melolin is what we personally use and recommend)
  • Cover with one roll of soffban plus bandage 15cm in width
  • Use thick cotton wool or veterinary gamgee to pad wound for protection
  • Cover with a knit-firm 15cm bandage
  • Cover with vetwrap

This gives a great padding to protect the wound. To begin with we would recommend changing this bandage every 1-2 days and then change to every other day once it stops bleeding/weeping.  If proud flesh is present we would recommend cleaning and reapplying daily for most effective results in a shorter space of time.  When Equaide dissolves proud flesh it will produce a yellow fluid which is completely normal and means it is doing its job.

If you wish to cover a wound which cannot be bandaged we would recommed using Polster Plast.  Please note this type of bandage is extremely sticky but is great at doing its job and keeping the wounds covered.  To remove any excess sticky residue a little tip would be to use a touch of baby oil which will do the job nicely.
