Equaide is a very simple and effective product to use. It comes supplied with a mixing stick and an application brush.
When you open your pot of Equaide just be careful not to spill it. It requires a good mix up when you receive it and it will be hard at the bottom and liquid on the top. Once mixed there should be no lumps in it. It can take a good few minutes to get it mixed well.
When preparing a wound to apply Equaide, firstly clean the wound using saline solution or fresh water. Dry the area, swabs are ideal as they will not stick to the wound. Once you have dried the area apply a thin layer of Equaide. Please do not feel you require a thick layer as this is not required and it just means you use more product than necessary. If the wound is bleeding then a pressure bandage may be required over the wound. If you are not experienced in bandaging or have any concerns regarding a wound please consult your vet.
The above process should be repeated daily until Equaide is on top of the wound when you can then change to every other day. If proud flesh is present a daily clean, dry and re-application is required.
Trust the process as it works, however please touch base with us if you have any questions or are not sure on anything. We are always more than happy to help.
Equaide can be used on all types of wounds and skin disorders.
Equaide can be used on wounds from the very start, we always recommend a horse is being treated with antibiotics if an infection is or may be present. Please consult your vet should you think there may be an infection present.
It is never too late to start using Equaide on a wound. Equaide prevents proud flesh forming which is why we recommend it to be used from the beginning. If proud flesh is already present on a wound it will dissolve away the proud flesh to a healthy skin cell level.
Equaide can be used on wounds with stitches or staples. It can also be used with or without bandaging.
We are always here to help and give advice on using Equaide. We have over 15 years experience using Equaide on all different types or wounds and skin disorders on our own horses prior to becoming a UK distributor in 2018.

No, Equaide can be used with or without bandaging. It is a great product when using on areas where you are not able to bandage. We do recommend bandaging where possible if proud flesh is present as this just helped speed up the healing process. Bandaging also prevents the Equaide being brushed off.
You can also use foam adhesive bandages to cover areas to keep them clean that are difficult to do traditional bandaging on.
That is completely fine, when cleaning the wound not all of the residual Equaide may come off. Just continue to give it a light clean, dry and then paint another thin layer of Equaide over the top. Equaide does form a protective layer over the wound and any residual Equaide will come away when it is ready too.
If Equaide starts to build up on a wound you can soak it with warm water to encourage it to come away. Sometimes if the layer of Equaide you paint on is too thick this can happen.
Please do not pick at the residual Equaide to get it to come off quicker as this can damage the healthy skin cells.
Yes, it does have an expiry date but it does have a long shelf life. You can view the current expiry date on stock within our products range.
If you have not used your pot of Equaide for a while and it has dried up, do not worry! Just pop a few drops of cooled sterile water into it and give it a mix up and it will be as good as new again.
